An hr away from Sydney & other cities or large towns, the Southern Highlands is made up of a handful of small holdings. In England these villages used to be & sometimes are still called ‘market towns’. They are the centre for local producers, artisans & business people to cooperate & trade amongst themselves, keeping it local. I understand people want to be rich and have everything, but at what cost. Our environment suffers with pollution, traffic congestion, water pollution, electricity strain etc. Not to mention what effects it has on a global scale. Without getting too in depth, as I know most people are intelligent, concerned for our future and carry great guilt when being forced into buying from the big corporations that have landed on their doorstep.
I just want to know how KMart, Walmart, Woolworths, BigW and many others, have affected you & your community and if you have managed to force them out of your town?
PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU CARE ABOUT KEEPING SMALL BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITIES ALIVE.
All responses will give me more ammunition when talking to council and developers
